Kyocera launches high-quality low-cost desktop printer series designed by F.A. Porsche

от 28/02/2005

The new FS-720, FS-820 and FS-920 monochrome, desktop, business laser printers from Kyocera offer low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), high-quality reliable production, and a stylish design by F.A. Porsche.

High quality and low cost
All three high-performance models give users the opportunity to purchase an entry-level laser printer that not only offers an economical purchasing price, but also delivers low TCO. In fact, all three devices offer the lowest cost per page (CPP) and TCO in their segment. This total low-cost solution is ideal for small to medium-sized enterprises such as pharmacies, hotel receptions and car rental shops, as well as small departments and home offices.

While all three devices offer the lowest TCO in their segment, nothing has been compromised to achieve the low costs. Every device guarantees high reliability, produces high-quality printouts at a high desktop speed, and delivers all this from an elegant, modern design.

Unrivalled reliability and style
The new series is based on Kyocera’s proven ECOSYS technology, with a cartridge-free design and long-life components. This technology ensures high reliability from all three devices, and a key feature that adds to their reliability is the closed paper cassette. The 'drawer-type' cassette featured by the FS-720, FS-820 and FS-920 is sturdier than a 'tray-type' cassette, and when it is closed it is totally integrated into the body of the device. This means the paper is not exposed to the outside, so the paper quality is maintained – protected from dust and humidity.

Another feature of the paper cassette is its paper gauge. The user can clearly see how much paper is left in the cassette without having to open it, adding to all three devices’ ease of use.

While all three printers offer impressive reliability, they do not suffer from a purely functional shell; every device boasts a stylish design by F.A. Porsche with signature clean lines and an almost aerodynamic shape – a visual asset to the interior of any modern office. Each device has also been designed to be quiet, so they will only be drawing attention to themselves for the right reasons.

FS-720
The FS-720 is Kyocera's first GDI printer, with a Kyocera Host-Based Printing System that utilises the power of the PC. A GDI printer can only be used in a Windows environment and is ideal for business users looking for an affordable entry-level monochrome laser printer. The FS-720 delivers 16 pages per minute (ppm) at a resolution of 600 dpi, and has a full speed USB 2.0 interface for easy connection to the user's PC.

FS-820
The FS-820 also produces 16 ppm, but this model delivers Fast 1200 dpi resolution and has both USB and parallel interfaces so the printer can be shared and used efficiently. The FS-820 comes with PCL6 emulation as standard, which guarantees high compatibility with office and industrial applications and long-term use in many system platforms. The FS-820 is also equipped with the controller language PRESCRIBE IIe for electronic forms, fonts and barcode printing, powered by a 192 MHz processor and 16 MB of memory, which can be increased to a maximum 272 MB. For the permanent storage of data an optional CompactFlash card and DIMM memory are available.

FS-920
The FS-920 comes with PCL6 and Post Script 3 to ensure optimum performance in Windows, Apple and Linux environments. The FS-920 prints 18 ppm at Fast 1,200 dpi resolution, and with a 266 MHz processor and 32 MB memory as standard, it offers fast data processing, which saves time on even the most complex documents. Its memory can be enhanced up to a maximum 288 MB and an optional CompactFlash card and DIMM memory are also available. The FS-920 offers USB and parallel interfaces as standard and the controller language PRESCRIBE IIe for electronic forms, fonts and barcode printing.

Toner options
For the first time, Kyocera is offering two different types of toner containers for its printers. The FS-720, FS-820 and FS-920 can all use either the 6,000-page TK-110, or, for half its price, the 2,000-page TK-110E. Kyocera has developed the TK-110E for users who wish to spend less on their initial purchase, and although the TK-110 offers the best CPP and is a better investment in the long term, the TK-110E still offers a CPP that is half of Kyocera’s main competitor’s equivalent device, and offers a better short-term solution for those with a smaller budget.

By extending the range of Kyocera products in this segment, Kyocera now offers business users a wide variety of choices in the fast-paced market of monochrome desktop printers. Kyocera’s powerful line-up has a printer for every business user requirement, all with low TCO.

The FS-720, FS-820 and FS-920 are available now through Kontrax offices.
